Lash Accelerator & Sunday FOTD

bonjour bebes,
just a quicky... i picked up the Rimmel Lash Accelerator and have been using it for about a week. have my lashes grown yet? i'm not entirely sure, they seem a bit stronger, but i'll let you know at the end of the months usage. i thought i would just show you how it makes my lashes look - at first i wasn't sure, but now i'm in love with it!!

as you can see, it really does offer a lot of length, i'd say the volumising is pretty average but i think it does make the lashes look really beautiful!

and now onto my usual 'lazy sunday face'. is it just me or on sundays do you just seem to wear boring make up that requires hardly any effort?

Running (Wo)Man

Well the results of the 6 week Running School course are in and fortunately I have proof as the results are NOT to be believed!! Talk about a running transformation: from Queen of the Shuffle to Usain Bolt (for those 30 seconds anyway!!):

To confirm - both of these clips are me running at the same speed - so it's doubly SHOCKING how different they are!

Lovely Emma from the Running School was convinced that my 3lb weight loss over the 6 week course is obvious from the vidoe. LOVE HER!!! For me, it's the definition in/ use of the legs that I'M HEARTING.

I do have to admit that on the whole the running is not going quite as well as I'd like. I now know and can execute the correct/ perfect form - when I don't get lazy with my picking up my right leg or stop driving my arms from laziness/ tiredness. For me, running like this takes A LOT of mental effort as well as physical, although the results are totally WORTH IT (see above). However just keeping up perfect form for even 40 seconds at a time is pretty hard work, so much so, I can't EVEN imagine running a whole km like this let alone 10km next Saturday.

One of the other Running School trainers I was speaking to recently said a) that it takes about 10 weeks for the stamina/ consistent running form to really kick in and for it to really start to feel more effortless and b) not to worry about reverting back to your old style of running - just select a mental cue eg a silver car, so that everytime you see or pass a silver car you think about picking up your heels and driving your arms - eventually this mental cue becomes automatic.

What about when you don't have 4 weeks and there are no silver cars in the park where you run??!!

But really the biggest problem at the moment is that I'm avoiding ANY running like the plague - I had a couple of disasterous runs last weekend - where I was basically just totally out of breath and DYING so mentally I don't want to consider going through that HELL again. I have ZERO confidence that I even deserve to get around the 10km route next Saturday after the little effort I've put into training (Running School Lessons aside), let alone being able to run it well in the 55 mins I would like to complete the course. The quicker it's over, the better!!

Talk about losing focus so close to the finish line!!! xx

p.s. I think this current defeatist attitude is partly related to yesterday's birthday dress dressing room saga - I have selected a hot dress which I love - but sadly me in it is pretty average :-((.  Maddeningly it appears I still have lots of work to do - mostly my arms and as EVER my abdomen - but what's new?! By the time my Birthday comes around I won't care, but staring in the mirror yesterday, it was a bit of a shock to see how far I still have to go. Hopefully it's nothing a fake tan can't remedy, as comfort eating on Paleo is ABSOLUTELY, CATEGORICALLY NO FUN!

Avatar-on-a-Mission gets a Workout!!

Ooh busy day planned - BIRTHDAY PARTY DRESS SHOPPING DAY has finally arrived {Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!} plus today's is also"FINALLY sort out my BIRD'S NEST that passes as a HAIRCUT" day.

{Absolutely no disrespect to the BEST, SMARTEST and SWEETEST Hairdresser's in LONDONTOWN - The current chaos is all down to me. I have been delaying my seasonal hair TRANSFORMATION as long as possible so I don't have the opportunity to mess it up between cut and the BIRTHDAY MAGIC next weekend. - FYI: I.cannot.WAIT. for next weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!}

But since I've already got a full day planned this means - no time for exercising - and since my week's exercise tally is the shockingly low/ basically non-existant!! - I thought I'd let my much fitter, much stronger AVATAR get apumping her muscles for my benefit - about time!!! Talk about the perfect solution for the Girl TOO BUSY to exercise. Voila:

BODYBUILDING Avatar-on-a-Mission is IMPRESSIVELY STRONG - even whilst wearing a skirt!!!

She's not pad at the old hulahoop either!

Although this REALLY is me - just on screen (how cool is that?!), I should explain that I was amazingly fortunate to get the chance to try out YOUR SHAPE by UBISOFT. for the Microsoft Xbox Kinect technology on Thursday night.  This technology literally picks up thousands of points on your body and MAGICALLY!! translates that to an exact image on screen - NO MORE plump, squat Wii Cartoon for me or CONTROLS to lose/ send flying across the room!!!!! It was such amazing fun even despite the oh so tantilisingly "not allowed to eat ANY of the delectable canapes including minature chocolate brownies" on offer .

Here's proof that it really is me on screen as well as some more SUPERchick demonstrations of what this brilliant game can do (Busy girl that I am now REALLY has to run or Hairdresser will be very cross!! but please do check back tomorrow for my on-screen running woman debut - it's really quite SHOCKING!!) xx

It's meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee- Bowing down before my flat screen debut!!!
{I am always this weird which is why no-one even blinks an eyelid!!)

SUPERjade demonstrating that there's one girl in the world who can execute the perfect squat even in a skirt. CLASSY :-)))

SUPERchieftan CAT channelling her inner yogi!
No mean feat - this lady REALLY doesn't do STILL or CALM!!!
{Hmm who is that petite waif of a girl in the background in that fetching purple size 10!!!!! coast top?!?}

But the prize for the best and most outrageous avatar gaming/ EXTREME HULAHOOPING ever - has to go to SUPERlaura:
Definitely an EXTREME Ab workout - believe me!!!

p.s. THANKS everyone, particularly SUPERcat, the PR UBISOFT ladies for this sneak preview and such a memorable Thursday night and to a VERY MERRY SUPERjade for escorting me part-way home.

Evanna Lynch : Rare Scene

Evanna Lynch : new star

Retail therapy

hello ladies,
thought i'd do a bit of a collective haul from about... the past month i'd say. i've been trying not to spend too much in preparation for Christmas (all my shopping is almost done!) but i couldn't go without buy some stuff. and when i say some i have a feeling this is going to be a picture heavy, epic haul. better jump to it...

floral vest [H&M] £7.99

waterfall cardigan [H&M] £10
i love these waterfall cardigans! i think they're really flattering on me. plus this one is super soft and quite thick so great for the chill that's already arrived. atm H&M have £10 on selected knitwear, so pop on down :)

longline cardigan [PRIMARK] £9
just a boring plain black cardigan, i was going to pick up a chunky knit... but i've been meaning to pick up another black cardigan. i really liked the buttons on this.

leopard print scarf [PRIMARK] £3
such a bargain! this is just going to jazz up a boring outfit.

name necklace [EBAY] £4
i've been lusting over one of these for ages, i popped onto ebay and there one was! i can't remember the exact price but i think it was £5 with packaging. i don't remember the seller either but if you just type 'name necklace' it'll come up :)

coconut + almond hair mask £1.99
maybelline dream matte powder £6.99
batiste tropical £2.30
rimmel lash accelerator £6.99
[ALL BOOTS]

no7 cleansing sponges [BOOTS] £3.50
britney spears circus fantasy [CHEAPSMELLS] £17ish
i had a no7 voucher and there was nothing i wanted, so i picked up these sponges. everybody always tells me how st ives is really bad for your skin, so i'm going to wean myself off and use these daily for gentle but regular exfoliation.

this is my first delve into britney spears fragrances and this was on offer (don't know if it still is) on the website cheapsmells.com who basically just do discounted fragrance, make up etc. i really love the smell and the tacky bottle. really impressed!

pomegranate candle [HOMEBASE] £4.99
thermal flask [THERANGE] £2.99
i just recently decorated my room and whilst i was in homebase picking up paint, i got this guy. smells gorge! but the smell isn't really all that strong when burning.

got a thermal flask so i can start taking coffee to college, it's needed! got this at a shop called the range which i think it UK wide, but i'm not sure. it's just basically an amazing homewares shop that's really affordable. link here.

black cup £1.99
black drawers £5.99 each
[BOTH THE RANGE]
i wanted a new make up brush holder, i saw this and loved it. it looks like black diamond encrusted sort of thing, love it!

also wanted some new drawers for my make up... i wasn't liking my previous ones and they were getting a bit broken, lol. i saw these and thought they were perfect, and they are :) it's also going to help me not get out of control with my make up. i hereby vow that i won't let my collection get bigger than what can fit in these!

tampons [SAINSBURYS] £?
okay so this might seem a bit odd... but i've never seen these before and i thought i'd share :) they're tampons that come in this pretty little kitsch box that you wouldn't mind having on your dresser, let a lone in the bathroom. it comes with this cute little tin that you can put your lady bits in. much more discrete and less painful than that moment of all your tamps falling out of your bag!

warm 88 palette [EBAY] £8
so last but not least (told you this was epic!) i got an 88 palette, the warm on. neutrals heaven!! i just got one of the cheap ones from ebay, that came all the way from hong kong all in one piece. i was expecting the pigmentation to be crappy, but it's surprisingly very good! have been using this everyday since i got it... it was only £8 including delivery!

so that was my epic haul, i'm sorry to have taken up this much of your life, lol! if you have any questions about any of the products (want a review for example) just let me know down below of send an e mail my way :)

Winter is my Kryptonite

It's mid-week and first time in a long time I'm really struggling with the exercise/ nutrition and point of it all. I am majorly regressing. I have only done one exercise session this week and less than 5 miles walking total. This is not like Girl on a Mission AT ALL.

But MORE than that I can feel just how easy it is to slip back into "the can't be bothered to walk anywhere, do anything" habits of old.  The dark mornings and dark nights are no fun and they are definitely sapping me of my mission motivation.  Added to that I'm getting the hibernation munchies BIG TIME - I've stuck with the PALEO regime to a "T" although NO-ONE needs to eat the amount of nuts I've squirrelled away in the last two days. Nutty Overeaters Anonymous had better save me a seat for when the PALEO adventures are complete.

The high point of today was despite this afternoon's five hour long meeting and going to get supplies for the group, namely cakes and biscuits and some apples (the onsite shop was really limited), I just had an apple and tuned out to ALL the sugary treats, even though they were right in front of me, taunting me for hours.  That's one gold star to make up for the lack of exercise this week at least.

Plus in my little social experiment, (well five hours is a really LOOOOOOONG time for a meeting!!!!); me, on my nicoise salad (minus potatoes) and an apple, was probably one of the handful in the group who were still mentally alert at the 4 hours 59 minute mark (and believe me that meeting was more than a tad comatastic). On the other hand those sugar slumps and the constant need to keep refueling with MORE biscuits etc were REALLY plain to see.

{My name is Girl on a Mission and I am a sugar temptress to all who befall me?!}

The biggest thing I'm missing from my bi-daily walks and workout session is the HEADSPACE, sense of CALM and the PERSPECTIVE that really all the little annoyances of the day are just that: little, to be overcome with a smile then dismissed.

After nearly three days of inactivity I'm feeling my pressures of work etc building - I feel as though I'm having one of those weeks where I'm trying to schedule what work I can do in the 30 minutes before I get dressed in the morning, what to review on the tube before getting to my desk, when I'll have an opportunity to grab a snack, take a breath etc. I know this is psychological, brought on by not getting outside and switching off enough so I'm off to bed tonight at 9pm - no excuses and will be back walking the full distance to work first thing tomorrow morning WITHOUT FAIL. Hopefully in the dark, I will not bump into whoever stabbed that poor guy in Murder Vale yesterday cos that would really make this week suck.

On that note, I can't decide if I should invest in some high vis clothing and lights (PINK of course!!!) to get me through the winter and to ensure no bikes run into me or whether I should stay a little more incognito and hidden to would-be psychotics with knives/axes/guns/bad tempers. (I live in a nice part of London - honest!)  Thoughts???? xx
