Haulin' #2

Hey guys,
Right so part two of my haul, mainly clothes. Nothing too exciting - they're basically all basics and boring things! I still thought I'd share it with you... I love seeing what other people buy so hopefully someone else out there does too! Haha.

River Island, crop long sleeve £5 (was £12.99)

My only sale item! It's a really cute bright blue colour and it's quite a boxy long sleeve top. It's also cropped, to the point where it ends just at the middle of the waist. They only had it in a size 14 (I'm 10/12) but I really like that it's a bit baggier.

Miss Selfridge, Ribbed long sleeve £10

I love these basic ribbed long sleeve t-shirts from Miss Selfridge. They're great for lazy days to just wear with jeans or leggings and I thought this colour was really beautiful, it's an emerald, mossy green. I think green looks really good against brown hair and eyes.

Primark, Textured bodycon vest £6.00

Just a plain black bodycon vest/dress with a textured fabric... kind of like waffle weave? I'm going to use this under tops that aren't quite long enough to be worn alone or with leggings instead of wearing bodycon skirts all the time! I almost bought this in grey too which I wish I did now, looks like another trip to town for me!

Primark, Canvas plimsols £4.00

I saw these and I thought they looked much more expensive than Primark shoes, they're actually really good quality. They're pretty much plimsols but without the laces, I really like them. They're much better than the other Primark plimsols I had, because these have sturdy rubber soles.

Primark, Taupe satchel £9.00

I've been looking for a satchel bag for absolutely ages - that was affordable! I saw this little beauty in Primark and loved it. They did have some satchels before; the tan and black ones that everyone has but they weren't quite what I wanted. This one is perfect... not too small and not too big. A steal for £9!

WH Smiths, Lauren Conrad Style £7.49 (was £14.99)

I almost bought this book when it first came out, but I'm glad I waited because it's pretty much half price at WH Smiths now! There's a particular part I'm looking forward to reading... 'Jeans. Finding the right pair' I can never find perfect jeans!

So there's the end of my haul! You'll probably see little other hauls soon as my birthday is coming up and I'll probably go on a little shopping trip then too. Hope you've all been enjoying time off school/college/uni. Even though I'll be quite glad to go back... the bit in between Christmas and the New Year is really awkward and, well, a little bit boring!

So Long, Farewell 2010

2010 has been a BRILLIANT year. I was reminded of just how brilliant 2010 has been when, during today's annual clearout, I came across my 2010 resolutions which I'd scribbled last NYE . Although the clear out is not yet complete (I'm up to 9 filled bin liners of paperwork waiting to be recycled) and my shoulders are aching like crazy and the place is STILL a COMPLETE tip, nonetheless I want to quickly recap my 2010 highlights and do a quick celebratory jig.

Girl on a Mission's Wall of Fitness!! Check out all those medals!!

  • I SOMEHOW found the motivation to do something about my weight/ fitness AND not give up immediately!

  • The Hare and I became Marathoners - power walking over the finish at 7hrs 30mins on 20th June!!!!

  • I completed 3 x 10km races - running at least half the distance non-stop (Boutique Run - 10th July, Old Deer Park 10km - 26th September, SUPERchicks' Richmond 10km - 6th November)

  • I was part of a SUPERamazing team that undertook the 10km Commando Challenge on 10th October

The Hare created this brilliant Commando collage for me - which has pride of place on my wall!
  • I ran a 6km Santa Run non-stop with no training - still blown away by this feat on the 11th December

  • I completed 114 SUPERchick training sessions (not including 4 weeks of Bootcamp)

  • I've walked a grand total of 1091 miles - woohoo (but only wore my MBTs once -any size 5 MBT wanters out there?!)

  • I raised over £500 for various charities

  • I learnt HOW to RUN

  • I tried lots of new activities, I made some amazing friends, I got INSPIRED and I benefited from brilliantly unfaultering support - THANK YOU to everyone who's trained, moaned and raced with me, checked out my blog or cheered me on my way. YOU really made 2010 a special year for me.

  • I finally lost 2 stone - a task that's been on my yearly planner for about 4-5 years

The well used fitness tracker

After 12 months of fun, sweat, aches, breathlessness, giggles and some tears I AM SO MUCH HAPPIER. 2010 is a year I won't quickly forget in a hurry.

Truly, my reaction to this photo was a shocked "I'm pretty". Typically "Urgh" is my typical reaction to photos of me.  This change ONLY took a year!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR MY LOVELIEST AND MOST DARLING BLOG READERS. HOPE ALL YOUR WISHES FOR 2011 COME TRUE.  (My wish for 2011 has already been donated to SUPERlouise so I'm going to have to work extra hard to earn my stripes in 2011!!)  xx

p.s.  2011 is going to be even more fun and challenging than 2010. The best is yet to come!!
p.p.s. One of the surrealist moments of my year was my athletic little sister requesting a circuit training session from me this week. From me!!! Since I am no trainer we did end up getting totally distracted by the monkey bars and swings, but before we did, I managed to get my sis to complete one entire pressup!! See for yourselves:

An amazing feat of athletics!!

Hello Kitty for Sephora - Review and Comparison

Hello Kitty for Sephora - Review & Eyeliner Comparison

My package from Sephora arrived right before Christmas last week! Amidst all the hustle & bustle of the holiday season, I didn't get around until opening anything...until today!

Hello Kitty Sephora

The packaging -as expected- is SUPER adorable...the perfume box is topped with a silver bow sticker...

HK bow

...and the "sweet gloss" packaging is imprinted with Hello Kitty's famous mug

Cuteness aside, here is my review.

Hello Kitty perfume

*Perfume*

This 1.7 oz perfume is decently sized - but I definitely took a gamble on ordering it without ever sniffing. The description sounded just perfect for me! The mysterious unnamed Japanese fruits and green apple made it sound like this would be a fresh & sweet scent.

I was disappointed - it doesn't smell BAD - just extremely generic. The "wink" of vanilla is more than just that and the apple scent is nonexistent. That or my nose might be a little stuffy. The pretty bottle is now doing just that - prettying up my vanity.

*sigh*

***

*Sweet gloss*

Hello Kitty sweet gloss

Equally sweet blogger Rina also purchased this and has some good swatches of Peachy up on her blog

I purchased "Peachy" for my sister and kept "Pink Bow" for myself.

The fruity scent is really nice and the consistency is more of a balm than a gloss in my opinion. I like the color, though it is just a tint.

Hello Kitty pink bow

The packaging is nice, sturdy, and cute!

I was overall very pleased with this purchase, though I'm not sure I would shell out $16 for another one.

***

*Penpal Eyeliner*

Hello Kitty Good night dreams

I am always on the hunt for a great eyeliner. I have tried different felt-tip liners before, without much success. I just recently opened my Dolly Wink Deep Black eyeliner and was pleased with the precise tip and the staying power!

As Rina mentioned, the cap on the Hello Kitty Pen-pal eyeliner is super tight - which I suppose is nice because it will prolong the life of the product. This cap is a bit too tight though, and you have to put a little bit of muscle into tugging it off. :P The problem with felt-tip eyeliners is their tendency to dry out quickly, so I'm hoping the cap at least keeps it fresh. For all that work, it'd better! :O

The tip itself is not nearly as fine as the Dolly Wink tip...

Eyeliner comparison

Here are my swatches of the liners - see the whiskers on the Hello Kitty heart-shaped swatch? :3 (Don't ask about the Dolly Wink one, it was supposed to be winking with a bow T_T)

Hello Kitty comparison swatch

The eyeliner isn't disappointing...but it definitely is NOT waterproof so save this one for a sunny day! The pigmentation is decent, but I would use it over regular pencil liner for more contrast. I don't think it would be dark enough for my liking on its own! That or it might have to be layered on.

***

All in all, I bought into the hype! The novelty of this line is reason enough to get excited but the quality of the makeup itself is nothing to write home about. I still might browse again mid-January when the line officially launches - if anything, I *might* pick up the brushes or the mirror. Maybe.

I can't believe the year is about to END!!!

I'm so excited to start another year- thank you all so much for your continued love & support throughout all of 2010. I really and truly feel so blessed - and I have a nice way of thanking you coming up next month!!! :D

I hope the new year holds bigger and brighter things for all of you! Take care and have a safe & Happy New Year!

A day of firsts

First time ever, as part of my commute, I caught a taxi. So INEXCUSABLY lazy of me. I want to blame it on the headcold I seemed to have acquired after a night of attempted sleep in a strobe lit bedroom (that’s a whole other story). Just to say that I was not feeling my best today. After months of walking literally all over London – in recent snowy weeks I’ve succumbed to buses and tubes with avengence and today I stooped to the laziest of transports - the taxi. Nooooooooo. In my defence, I was running uberlate today with a) no time to walk the 2 miles to my destination or b) the energy to run the distance and c) the three taxis parked up in front of me in Sloane Square were just too much temptation for this girl to resist. I am WEAK.

However to help cajole me with my flagging running training as well as attempt to stem the tide of creaky joints, yesterday I finally got around to replacing my trainers (thank you Santa) and in doing so I picked up a little trick of the trade. Check out my YouTube debut for the details. Excited doesn’t even come close – I am a classic YouTube Nutter!! Please also excuse the additional Christmas pounds – what can I say – the last week or so has been more delicious feast than famine but I’m back on the bikinilicious mission as of tomorrow!! xx

p.s. Don't forget to subscribe to GIRLonaMISSI0N's YouTube account - this and future scintillating clips are clearly NOT to be missed!! Hopefully practise makes perfect - or at best less cringeworthy?!

Haulin'

Hello, hello!
So a few days ago I went shopping and bought a few bits and bobs. Only one item I bought was in the sale - I'm such a rubbish sale shopper! Nothing I bought is overly exciting, but I thought I'd share with you guys anyway :) This will be the first post which will be just cosmetics, and tomorrow I will post the clothes and other pieces I bought otherwise this will jut be one mammoth post!

Barry M Nail Paints Fuchsia, Cobalt Blue + Indigo £2.99 each
Barry M Lip Paint, 147 Peachy Pink £4.49
MAC Limited Edition lipstick, The Faerie Glen £12.50
Rimmel Moisture Renew lipstick, Spotlight Beige £6.29

Lip Salves Spearmint + Strawberry £0.99
Plamer's Cocoa lip butter £1.79

I went a little crazy with lip balms... I literally already have hundreds! I really like the Boots Lip Salves, I think they're equally as good compared to the likes of Nivea. I got really into Palmer's Cocoa Butter for the body lately, the smell is delish so I thought I'd try the lip balm out too.

L'Oreal Super Liner Carbon Gloss £6.19
L'Oreal Volume Milliion lashes mascara £8.29 (was £11.29)
Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid foundation £6.19 (was £8.19)

Cranberry Joy Body Butter £6.00 (was £12.50)
Vanilla Eau De Toilette £9.00

It's £6.00 on selected body butters at the moment at The Body Shop, so get yourselves down there... it's always best to get them when they're on offer because £12.50 is a bit pricey! I always get one in the sales lol. It was a toss up between Cranberry and Almond, which smells exactly like cherry bakewells!

Umberto Giannini Backcomb In A Bottle £5.49
Hollister body spray, Solana Beach £8

A Hollister has just opened in the mall near me, which is pretty exciting. I want to hate brands like Abercrombie and Hollister, but I just love them! The body sprays smell so good, they're all really fruity and I wanted to buy them all! They're 2 for £12 but I thought I'd stick to one.

So that's the end of cosmetics, tomorrow will be clothing and other bits... also, swatches of the lipsticks and nail polishes will be up soon. And if you want me to do reviews on any of these particular products then let me know and I'd be more than happy :)

NYE

Hello beauties!
New Years Eve is rapidly approaching and what says NYE more than glitter??? I decided to do a look based around the notoriously glittery eyeshadow from Urban Decay - Midnight Cowboy. I think everyone here on blogger has heard about Midnight Cowboy, if not owned it. It's a beautiful, beautiful shade that comes with a lot of fall out and Fix+ is definitely it's saviour!

Those of you who have read my blog for a while probably know that I don't do 'out there' make up, so this is pretty neutral. I wish I'd have bought falsies to go with this look because I think it would look gorgeous with them. But, I don't have any fake eyelashes and I'm actually a falsies virgin *mouth drop* Anyways, this is what I came up with, pretty simple but that bit of glitter that New Years Eve needs :)

All the eyeshadows I used are from the Urban Decay Alice palette.

- 'Drink Me Eat Me' all over the lid as a base
- Spray my brush with Fix+ and pat 'Midnight Cowboy' all over lid
- 'Chessur' on crease and blended
- 'Jabberwocky' on the outer creased and winged out slightly
- 'Jabberwocky' pushed into the lower and upper lashline
- Lined waterline with Benefit 'Bad Gal'
- Lashings of mascara and Voila!

Whenever I just post the eyeshadow look, people are always curious what the whole face shot looks like, so I thought I'd show you how I'd wear my face make up with this look too...

Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid foundation
Elf High Definition powder
MAC Harmony as contour
MAC Well dressed as blush
Elf Golden Bronzer as highlight on cheek+brow bones

Avon lipstick in Pout
MUA lipgloss in Shade 1

I don't actually have any plans for NYE as of yet, I'm gutted I'm not 18 in time! What are your plans? Are you planning a big glitter-fest?

It's that time again, and if you're like most of us here at Boutique Mix Fashion, we've got a long list of summer and fall weddings. We're looking forward to all of them; family, clients, friends, co-workers and long lost high school buddies who found us on Facebook.

One of our long-time clients and good friend, Kayla is getting married and we'd love to gift her fabulous jewelry from our fab Stella and Dot Independent Stylist MiMi's Stella and Dot website.

We are in love with the Stella and Dot bridal boutique and have a difficult time making a quick choice.  So why not make this fun for our Boutique Mix blogosphere fans

Kayla has managed to narrow down her choices to three looks. We will be choosing one of these three choices for her.  She loves bold, chunky jewelry and tends to be on the "go big or go home" side of the style spectrum.

Kayla will be wearing two dresses, a traditional ball gown for the ceremony and a sassy strapless number for the reception and afterparty.  She may however, choose to rock her jewels for the rehearsal dinner, instead.

Vote (by leaving a comment) for your Stella and Dot choice for Kayla's wedding on this blog or the official Boutique Mix Online Store Blog and you'll be entered to win one of Stella and Dot's fabulous rings!

THERE IS NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO WIN!!
