My Name Is Khan looses to 3 Idiots

This is a a piece of news which will hurt the fans of Shahrukh Khan. King Khan has lost it out to the perfectionist Aamir Khan once again. Shahrukh's My Name Is Khan which had got a bombastic opening opening in it's first week has lost grip over the Box Office in it's second week and seems to be no match for Aamir's 3 Idiots. My Name Is Khan has seen a steep fall in the second week with occupancy falling as much as 60% to 80%.
The movie had started off well thanks to the controversy created by the Shiv Sena over Shahrukh's support to the Pakistani players in the IPL. Fox Star India which is distributing the movie was excited after the movie had a better start than 3 Idiots. But My Name Is Khan seems to have lost the momentum having grossed Rs. 150 Crores in the second week compared to Rs. 240 Crores , 3 Idiots grossed in the first 10 days.

This is not the first time that Shahrukh has emerged No. 2 in the race. In 2008 too Shahrukh's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi was going well but when Aamir's Ghajini released the movie found tough to breathe. Ghajini had gone on to establish records at the Box Office which was incidentally broken by Aamir starer 3 Idiots. Now having lost two consecutive rounds to Aamir, Shahrukh will find it tough to keep his 'Baadshah of Bollywood' tag.

Few purchases :)

Good afternoon everyone :)
The past couple of weeks I haven't been really buying much... because of lack of money and all that boring, horrible stuff! But I have got a few bits and I thought I would share with you guys. So here we go...

First up us the Schwarzkopf Gliss shampoo and conditioner. I actually found this in the pound shop! Hm shame that's where my excitement stopped, if you want to read my review on this product click here.

This is some kind of shine serum from Pantene which I also found in the pound shop. I haven't used this enough times to tell you what I think of it... if anyone's inteested I'll try and use it a lot of put up a review :)

Okay so this next thing I was super excited about. It's the cutest keyring! It's a little doughnut with sequin beady type sprinkles! It's hand made out of felt and stuffing. This was actually made my lolasayswhat on youtube - if you're not subscribing to her then you should be. Her videos come in a whole variety of topics and I love watching her videos! She put some of the things she made on etsy: lolas etsy store. She still has a few pieces left and they're so cute! They are limited as there is only one of each so defs order them now if you want to get some keyring candy :D

I popped into La Senza and I really liked these PJs! The pink flamingo ones were £22 and then the ostrich (I think thats what it is?) ones were £20. They also have the same that come with shorts.

I was trying to think up an original way to store my brushes, but I just couldn't - so I settled for the vase/beads combo that we see all over the beauty community. I bought this one from the GlitzyGlam online store. For any of you that are subscribed to Blair and Elle on youtube you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. If not - go and check those two out and then check out the store... they do really sweet gifts! I'm sorry about my brushes being so dirty!!

And the last thing that was the most exciting thing for me was DUM DUM DUMMM...
The Alice in Wonderland BOS!!! So happy to finally have my hands on this. I'll probably do another post on this during the week with swatches and the likes :)

Enjoy the last little bit of the weekend! Do any of you have original/unusal ways of storing your brushes? Put a link below I'd love to see :)

LOTD + Michelle's 1st Giveaway

Good-bye February!

Just a quick LOTD. I don't know why I ended up dressing like it was still freezing outside - it was nearly 60 degrees today! (had no idea until I stepped outside)

Wintery outfit
Hat - Forever21, Sweater (heavily pilling!!! Does anyone know how to fix this?!) - Abercrombie, Jeans - Banana Republic, Necklace - Hot Topic (The ultimate Mall outfit!!! Also, laundry day was today...)

Just did a simple eye today with Darkness Kma9s (lashes), Revlon Colorstay eyeliner in black, TheBalm Luscious Lani on inner lids and browbone & Just this once Jamie on lids. My lids are a bit wrinkly & my blending isn't superb...but it worked for a light natural look today! I think I need a better application brush - the shadows did not want to stick to my brush today. :P

EOTD 2-27

Natural makeup

The lunch date with friends was excellent - was able to get my monthly intake of delicious PHO heaping with tripe, round eye, green onions, and steamed bean sprouts. (I hear the Catfish at this place is the specialty, but you have to order an hour ahead!!! Boo) Next time I'm going to sample more of the menu...

TheBalm Shady Lady swatches

I am SO EXCITED FOR THE WEEKEND. I always am looking forward to 2 free days after 6 straight days of work. *happy relieved sigh*

***

Now down to business!

I bought the following Shady Lady eyeshadows listed below (at least I thought I did! I forgot that I didn't purchase Jealous Jordana - #$%^@!)***see below for update***

TheBalm shadow review

Here are the following shadow swatches on my fingertips - it just took some light pressure to get these pigment-rich shades to show up! (No primer)

Shady Lady Swatches

Thebalm Shady Lady 2

*Update* - Bought it. *guilty eyes* :( + Risque Renee (navy blue sheen)

TheBalm Shady Lady Swatches 3

If you are a MAC lover, you will notice that Curvy Cami is a lot like MAC Trax, and Kinky Katie might be a bit like "Brule." You might not want to purchase them if you have dupes already!

I haven't played around with them too much yet (that is for tomorrow's lunch date!) BUT from all the reviews and from just feeling the shadows themselves -- they are super smooth and velvety/silky to the touch. The powder easily deposits onto fingertips/brushes and apparently, blends like a dream!

The shadows alone aren't cheap - $16 a pop at Sephora, slightly cheaper in Department stores. If you aren't near a Dillard's, the palettes (in volume 1 or 2) are a good investment - although you get less than a full size pan, the convenience of having everything in one place is nice!

Will post pictures EOTD tomorrow + Blush swatches review ^_^

Retail Therapy - Mall Haul at Sephora & Dillard's

Firstly, I want to thank all of you for showing such positivity & support over my work rant! Your kind words really helped lift me up...I feel so loved! *^_^* Further proof that you are not only beautiful on the outside, but on the inside as well!

***

Today was one of my off days, so after bumming around the house for awhile, I decided to head to the local mall! I ended up spending most of my time inside of Dillard's - an 'anchor store' at the mall 5 mins from my house! It's very much like a Macy's...lots of fashion, cosmetics, homestuffs and the like. I found the most beautiful Waterford Bone China Teacups on sale for 70% with an extra 40% off!!!

Cute little Seahorse logo
Waterford

This one is called "Ballet ribbons"
Ballet ribbons waterford

...and this one is called "Ballet Jewels"
Ballet jewels waterford

Kind of a random purchase - but they are so pretty, elegant & ladylike...I might just start a collection! :D

It seems like all of Dillard's is having an EXTRA 40% OFF sale this week! This includes Cosmetics!!! I kind of went crazy because I have been on the lookout for new smokey eye colors since I can't seem to find my favorite MAC smokey eye paletteanywhere ;_;.

One of the lovely lady bloggers I follow mentioned how much she adored TheBalm's Shady Lady Palette! I was thinking about buying the palette but I freaked out when I saw the individual shadows on sale at Dillard's for a fraction of the original price!!! (If you are near a Dillard's, swing by and check it out!) I swatched all the colors on my fingertips - SUPER pigmented, shimmery, soooo pretty! Plus, the darker shades can double as liners - which is a nice option. Alongside the shadows, another sweet girl (who possibly dropped by at the sight of me furiously digging through the shadow bins) suggested I try the "Hot Mama" blusher/shadow by TheBalm as well...supposedly, it's somewhere in between NARS "Orgasm" and NARS "Deep throat" ... can't wait to try it out!!!

TheBalm haul

Hard Candy Rock n Roll palette is going back to Wal*Mart. I'm holding onto the High Maintenance though.

***

SEPHORA

They were sold out of the Korres Lip Saver Roller -- 3 pretty lip butters for the price of 2!!! Good deal...but all gone ;_; All the colors I want too! Eki has a nice review of the lip butters here.

However, I was able to swatch some of the blush colors from the New Tarina Tarantino line I mentioned awhile back. I reaaaallly liked the Parasol blush - so it came home with me.

Sephora haul

Tarina Tarantino compact open

The packaging is too cute!!! I love how the compact is nestled in a little pink organza pouch!

I will review ALL of these + swatches soon!

Before sleep, I want to welcome beautiful new bloggers - Summer (a beautiful girl with a beautiful attitude!), xbbkay (LOVE her nails!), Kathy (Irish beauty!), LittoMokaa (love your reviews!), Mimi, tiare, Rae, Candice, and Samantha of Saaammage (I love her reviews so much!!! REVIEW: Schwarzkopf Gliss

Hiya guys!
So this is going to be a review on something that I picked up a couple of weeks ago the Schwarzkopf Gliss shampoo and conditioner.

The reason why I picked this up in first place is that I kind of got stuck in a rut of using Pantene. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Pantene and I probably will always go back to it... But I'd been told by a few people that it isn't the most beneficial shampoo & cond to use for healthy hair, which is what I'm currently trying to achieve in order to grow my it.

I thought it was about time to start trying other brands and try and break my bond with Pantene :( The first brand I tried was Tresseme, I've never been a fan of their shampoo or conditioners but I thought I should give them the benefit of the doubt and try them again - nope still didn't like them. When I went into the pound shop (yes I know!!) to pass some time, I saw the Schwarzkopf Gliss. I'd never used any Schwarzkopf products before other than their hair dyes - which I don't have a bad thing to say about. Considering they were so cheap there was never a second thought!

Schwarzkopf say: 'New with cell repair, repairs inside the hair cell, up to 130% more shine' 'The Gliss formula with elements of liquid silk and a gloss enhancer gives suppleness and breathtaking shine. Smoothes the hair's surface - for intense shine, hair as smooth as silk, for daily use.'

What I think: Now they are some pretty high claims to live up to! And for me, it did not fulfil any of them. I've been using this for almost 2 weeks, and I'm once again... back to Pantene!

The first thing that I hate about this shampoo is the smell. For me, smell is really important and this just smells eurgh. It actually smells like some kind of kitchen cleaner! Not nice at all. But I thought hey, it might make my hair super healthy and shiny. I was wrong. It applied to my hair well and I had high hopes... However when I got out of the bath and carried on with my normal hair routine. When my hair had been dried and straightened I found none of the shine that they claimed. Pantene makes my hair far shinier than this did. I also found it made my hair feel quite greasy... I was confused, I was 100% I had washed the conditioner out completley. The next time I used it I spent extra time washing out the conditioner - the same thing happened. So this got me thinking... maybe it was the product I was using afterwards? So the next time I didn't use any products in my hair... but yet the same thing happened! I don't know if this is just me, but it felt like it had like a oily residue on my hair. Maybe this is what they meant by 'shine'??? Who knows. All I know is I will not be using this again, lol. I might've been quite harsh on this product. But I really, really dislike it! Looks like my search for a new s&c continues!

Next stop: John Freida.

Have any of you tried Schwarzkopf shampoo's? Did they work for you?

Will ‘Hurt Locker’ have an ending like ‘Brokeback’?

With wins at the Producers Guild, Directors Guild, Writers Guild, and British Academy Awards, “The “Hurt Locker” ” has clearly been racking up the major pre-Oscar prizes in the last month.
In fact, with the exception of a couple big-ticket losses at the Golden Globes and SAG Awards, Kathryn Bigelow’s film has nearly accomplished the same sweep that “Slumdog Millionaire” pulled off last year. By that yardstick, the film seems like a sure thing to win the Best Picture Oscar on March 7, particularly because those two high-profile losses came at the hands of two different films (“Avatar” at the Globes, “Inglourious Basterds” at SAG) rather than one.
But then I started looking at all ““Brokeback”  Mountain’s” pre-Oscar record from four years ago and I found some striking similarities.
“Brokeback” managed the rare feat of winning Best Picture and Best Director at both the New York and Los Angeles film critics awards; so did ““Hurt Locker.” “Brokeback” also picked up those two big prizes at the Broadcast Film Critics Awards; so did “Hurt Locker.” “Brokeback” won the trifecta of PGA, DGA, and WGA trophies; so did “Hurt Locker.” “Brokeback” won 4 BAFTAs, including Best Film, Director, and Screenplay; “Hurt Locker” picked up 6 awards, including Best Film, Director, and Screenplay. And of course, “Brokeback” lost the SAG cast award, and so did “Hurt Locker.” (The main difference between the two films’ tallies is that “Brokeback” did win four Globes, including Best Drama and Best Director, while “Hurt Locker”  went 0 for 3.)
All of this is on my mind right now because we’re about to put our Oscar Odds issue to bed (it’ll be on stands this Friday), and it’s really making me think twice about my prediction that The “Hurt Locker”  will emerge victorious on March 7.
There’s still a distinct possibility that “Hurt Locker”  will mirror “Brokeback”  yet again and win three Oscars (let’s say Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Editing) but lose the big one to a more easily-digestible rival, in this case “Avatar.”
But I’m swayed by the argument (best articulated by Steve Pond over at The Wrap) that even if “Avatar” scores the most No. 1 votes, The “Hurt Locker”  is likely to perform better in subsequent rounds of voting, since Bigelow’s film may have more No. 2 and No. 3 rankings than “Avatar” will. So, fully knowing that I may end up being wrong, I’m sticking with The “Hurt Locker”.

New celeb style crush

Morning girls!
So yup, I have a new celeb crush! Lea Michele. For those of you who watch Glee you will instantly know who she is, if you don't... then you'll probably still recognise her for the amazing frocks she's been donning at the grammys and golden globes. I'm not a huge fan of Glee - controversial, I know. But I think Lea is stunningly beautiful and has definitely got some serious style! I've loved every single thing I've seen her wearing. Here are some pictures of outfits I particularly loved.

How beautiful is that canary yellow against her skin tone?!?!

I think these two dresses are unbelievably beautiful. That emerald green is so gorgeous!

I envy how beautiful she is...

Are you loving Glee, or not see what the big fuss is about? Have you got any new style crushes?

Work RANT & Vivi Spring Fashion and makeup ♥!

Pic heavy post!

RANT Uggggh...just got back from another tough day at work...Plus no time for dinner tonight! *stomach gurgle* :(

The people you work with and surround yourself with make a HUGE difference as far as whether you have a good or bad day. Sometimes when life/work is hard, you need people who can provide positivity and help you get through the rough patches. Other people like to whine, complain and make even the smallest task seem like a huge burden because of their sour attitude. It casts a big storm cloud over the whole workplace. I worked with this particular person all day today - everything she did was met with a big sigh or annoyance or anger or attitude or all of the above. Near the end of my shift today, I noticed that it was starting to rub off on me. I was able to pull myself out of it before the days end and tried my best to ignore my super negative coworker...but it was an important reminder to keep everything in perspective. Some people just want to drag you down with them...it's okay to have a bad day now and then, but it's really too bad that some people don't know how make the best of a situation!

*end rant*
