Roughly a month after her shocking death, Amy Winehouseclaimed a posthumous record. Her second studio album "Back to Black" was named the biggest selling album of the 21st century in the U.K. by the Official Chart Company which tracks the sales of music in the country.
Winehouse snatched the accolade from previous record holderJames Blunt. The "You're Beautiful" hitmaker got the title with his 2005's debut album "Back to Bedlam" which sold around 3,259,100 copies so far, but the "Rehab" singer surpassed it by garnering 3,241,118 copies of "Back to Black".
Amy rose to the top spot on the U.K. album chart since her passing last July. She even denied Kanye West and Jay-Z the No. 1 place last week. She remained at the penthouse of the weekly rundown for several weeks before finally being pushed down from its throne by Nero this week. She is currently sitting at No. 3 behind Adele.
Beside making a huge jump in the U.K. chart with the 2006 sophomore set, the late singer had also broken the top 10 on Billboard Hot 200. Keith Caulfield, associate director of Billboard charts, told E! Online, "A lot of it has to do with people just discovering who an artist is. It's an ironic twist that many people don't learn of an artist until that artist passes away."
Amy Winehouse is going to be remembered this coming Sunday, August 28 at 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. She will be saluted by her "Body and Soul" duet partner Tony Bennett. "It was a thrill to record with Amy Winehouse," the music vet said. "And when you listen to the recording of 'Body and Soul', it is a testament to her artistic genius and her brilliance as one of the most honest musicians I have ever known."

Southampton, NY
Our trip to the Hamptons a couple weekends ago turned out to be an adventure.
We headed out for a music festival and ended up getting complimentary
tickets and were back stage the whole time, except for the fact that the
weather was playing games with the entire production, we had a
solid time nonetheless, it was literally an experience.
Pictures galore!

Katy Perry Tweets Response After Tying Michael Jackson's Historic Record
After being held off for two weeks, Katy Perry finally reaches the top spot on Billboard Hot 100 and breaks the 53-year record history of the chart. She quickly tweeted, "What a way to wake up! SO proud to announce that the little-engine-that-could of a song 'LAST FRIDAY NIGHT' is officially #1 & made HISTORY!"
Perry becomes the first woman and second artist overall after Michael Jackson who has five separate No. 1s on one album alone. Receiving the unprecedented feat through "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)", she thanked her fans, "I couldn't have done it with out ya, really I owe u guys BIG... so take this moment to give yourself a high FIVE!!! #allbecauseofu."
While she is tied to the legendary King of Pop who scored the accolade with his 1987's "Bad", the wife of comedian Russell Brand is a winner among her equals. She comes one step ahead of Justin Timberlake and Lady GaGa who both had four No. 1's in 2006's "FutureSex/LoveSounds" and 2009's "The Fame" respectively.
Beside celebrating the new record, Perry is additionally celebrating her extention on the top 10. By May this year, she has already spent 52 consecutive weeks - an entire year - in the top 10 of the U.S. single chart. This week marks Perry's 66 consecutive weeks occupying the top 10, dating back to the arrival of Snoop Dogg-assisted single "California Gurls" in May 2010.
Perry becomes the first artist in more than five-decade history to do so. She surpassed the previous record held by Ace of Base who had occupied the Hot 100's top 10 for 48 straight weeks (October 1993- September 1994) with such singles as "All That She Wants", "The Sign" and "Don't Turn Around".

Lady GaGa Reveals Her Many Faces in Official 'You and I' Music Video
Lady GaGa fights off the leak of her "You and I" music video. Initially set to make its way out this coming Thursday, August 18, the clip came out earlier by Tuesday afternoon, much to her dismay. "F*** THURSDAY," she tweeted a few hours later before rushing to release the official one.
Filmed in a corn field and a barn somewhere in Nebraska, the video shows the many faces of the Mother Monster including her male alter ego, Jo Calderone, and her mermaid self, Yuyi. "You must love all + every part of me, as must I, for this complex + incomprehensible force to be true," she wrote on Twitter.
"The [video is about the] idea that when you're away from someone you love, it's torture," she once said. "I knew I wanted the video to be about me sprinting back and walking hundreds of thousands of miles [ from New York City to Nebraska] to get him back."
"I'm walking with no luggage and no nothing and it's just me and my ankles are bleeding a little bit and there's grass stuck in my shoes and I've got this outfit on and it's real sort of New York clothing and I'm sprinting."
Watch Anne Hathaway Raps Original Song Like Lil Wayne
Anne Hathaway has a way to promote her latest movie, that is by rapping like Lil Wayne. The 28-year-old was made a guest on "Conan" to promote romantic drama "One Day" and she displayed her skill in spitting verses which she claimed is the result of her frustration of the paparazzi.
In an original song and original lyrics, Hathaway left a message for the shutterbugs who have been hounding her lately especially after she nabbed the role of Catwoman in "The Dark Knight Rises". She told Conan O'Brien, "With all the stuff that's been going on with Batman, the paparazzi attention's been a little intense, so I actually wrote a rap song about it. It's in the style of Lil Wayne."
Some of her lyrics are "Yo I'm a paparazzi / I don't play no Yahtzee", "I tell the truth about what I see / And sell it to Perez Hilti" and "Don't act all hotsy totsy / B***h I know you from Jersey!". She then returned to her classy self when the song ended and everybody clapped.
Lady GaGa's VMA Promo to Air During 'Jersey Shore'
Lady GaGa officially will invade the stage of Video Music Awards on August 28, MTV announced. The singer joins the already-impressive rooster who would perform at the event such as Lil Wayne, Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, Adele, and Young the Giant.
GaGa will make a VMA announcement and tease the promo live on MTV and Logo on Thursday, August 18, during "MTV First: Lady GaGa" which airs at 7:49 P.M. ET. In the program, GaGa will also be interviewed by Sway Calloway. She would also take part in a live Q&A on MTV.com where fans could submit their questions via Twitter as well. The full promo will then air during "Jersey Shore" at 10 P.M. ET.
GaGa is expected to perform "You and I", her fourth single off "Born This Way", at the awards show. Beside a performer, she is also a nominee for Best Female Video ("Born This Way"), Best Art Direction ("Judas"), Best Choreography ("Judas") and Best Video with a Message ("Born This Way").

Demi Lovato Takes a Tumble When Performing at Do Something Awards
Demi Lovato reportedly opened and closed her performance at Do Something Awards with a hiccup. Words are, the "Camp Rock" actress tripped when walking to the center of the stage and took a tumble again when making her exit after the performance was over.
A source told Hollywood Life, "Demi's long, beautiful dress got caught in one of her violinist's chairs when she was walking on stage to sing 'Skyscraper'." The source added, "She noticed some of us giving her the thumbs up and returned the thumbs up and smiled."
Talking about the second incident, the source dished on, "Demi fell again as she was walking off stage. She tripped on her dress and fell backward! She quickly got back up. Most people didn't see, but some of us started clapping when she got back up. We gave her big hearts with our hands and she did the same!"
Recognizing young people who send positive messages of empowerment or raise awareness around social change, Do Something Awards was hosted by "Glee" star Jane Lynch this year. Beside featuring Lovato's performance, it also saw Foster the People, OneRepublic and B.o.B singing for the audience.
The show was taped on Sunday evening, August 14 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, California. That night, Demi got winged-sneaker trophy for Charity Song, thanks to her duet with Joe Jonas in "Make a Wave". David Beckham grabbed Do Something Athlete, while Olivia Wilde and Justin Bieber won Movie Star and Music Artist respectively.
In an interview with media, one of the attendees Ryan Tedder teased about his new project. The OneRepublic frontman revealed that it's a work he did for Lovato. He said it more upbeat than the emotional ballad "Skyscraper". He stated, "This is basically flipping it 180, saying, 'Oh, by the way, I'm still also just young and want to have fun'."
"There's even like a little rap feature on it," he continued. "I'm going to keep that [person] a secret. But she's got a couple features on this album, one in particular that is going to shock everybody. I was like, 'How did you get this person? They're impossible to get and you got them!' " Timbaland and Missy Elliott are two of rappers who were spotted hitting studio with Lovato earlier this year.
In the same occasion, Tedder then praised the former "Sonny with a Chance" star, saying "Demi blew me out of the water vocally! I had no idea how good her voice is. She's one of the best singers I've ever worked with. Literally, that good...I mean, she's a Kelly Clarkson-level vocalist. And Kelly has a set of pipes."
Lovato indeed sounded good when performing at Do Something Awards. Before the show is televised later this week, fans can take a peek at the teen singer's solid performance in the following footage.
Eminem Crowned King of Hip-Hop, Beating Kanye West and Jay-Z
Eminem is named the most successful rapper by Rolling Stone. While the Slim Shady beats Kanye West and Jay-Z on the list, he fell short on Forbes' Hip-Hop "Cash Kings" list as Kanye occupies the third spot and Jigga sits at the first place.
In deciding the King of Hip-Hop, Rolling Stone gathered data from 2009 through the first seven months of 2011. They ranked 20 solo rappers who have dropped an album during the period of time, and looked at their album sales, R&B/hip-hop and rap charts, popularity in social media, concert grosses, awards and critics' ratings.
In alphabetical order, the contenders are Big Boi, B.o.B, P. Diddy, Drake, Eminem, Fabolous, Lupe Fiasco, Gucci Mane, Jay-Z, Kid Cudi, Lil Wayne, Ludacris, Pitbull, Rick Ross, Snoop Dogg, T.I., Waka Flocka Flame, Kanye West and Wiz Khalifa. Describing the word "King" as a gender-neutral term, they also include femcee Nicki Minaj on the list.
The survey shows that the Bad Meets Evil rapper rules in multiple categories including album sales and social media ranking. He sold 7.5 million copies album from his two efforts; 2009's "Relapse" and 2010's "Recovery". He was ranked the first in social networking with almost 5 million Twitter followers, 43 million "likes" on Facebook, and 1 billion views on YouTube.
A couple place lower, there are Kanye and Jay-Z who sit at No. 4 and 5 respectively. The former got the most awards during the period of 2009 and mid 2011 by bagging a total of 65 trophies. The latter, meanwhile, received the best rating in album reviews from the critics.
Ahead of the two rappers, Lil Wayne and Drake round up the top 3 by occupying the second and third place respectively. Weezy earned more cash from his tour than any other MCs by grossing $51 million. Drizzy, meanwhile, was the king of the single chart.
Rolling Stone's King of Hip-Hop:
- Eminem
- Lil Wayne
- Drake
- Kanye West
- Jay-Z

Lady GaGa's Picture From 'You and I' Video Unleashed, Premiere Date Revealed
Lady GaGa has just given a first look at her upcoming "You and I" music video in a form of a picture. Posted on her Twitter, the photo captures someone supposedly the Mother Monster from above. Wearing a white outfit, she's seen sitting on a piano bench.
Along with the image, GaGa wrote, "Love is a Result. We bare an Unbearable Human Inability: to just 'be'." Two days later, she followed it up with another short tweet, "Less than a week." Rumor has it, the video will premiere on MTV this coming Thursday, August 18.
A few days ago, the "Judas" singer hinted that the video will be her 1000th Tweet. By Monday, August 14, she has already posted 996 tweets. If she indeed plans to debut the video on Thursday, she needs to post at least one tweet each day leading to the upcoming premiere.
"The [video is about the] idea that when you're away from someone you love, it's torture," she once said. "I knew I wanted the video to be about me sprinting back and walking hundreds of thousands of miles [ from New York City to Nebraska] to get him back."

'Breaking Dawn' Soundtrack Album to Be Released November 8
Soundtrack album of "The Twilight Saga's Breaking Dawn Part I" has got an official release date. The compilation CD is set to hit the stores in the United States on November 8, ten days before the movie arrives in theaters across the country.
The songs included in the album remain under wraps, but it was reported that "Sister Rosetta (Capture the Spirit)" performed by Noisettes might make the cut. The rumor emerged after Bella's pre-wedding clip was shown at San Diego Comic-Con with the track featured as a backsound.
Last month, Evanescence revealed their hope to land their song in the album. "I've been screaming for [new song] 'My Heart Is Broken' to land in that, because I think it would fit the story so well. I got sucked into the 'Twilight' vortex by the girls at home, so by default, I've got to watch it," said drummer Will Hunt.
Nothing has been set in stone just yet, but the first single is expected to be unleashed soon. The first installment of the "Twilight Saga" features Paramore's "Decode" as the first single, "The Twilight Saga's New Moon" has Death Cab for Cutie's "Meet Me on the Equinox" on the lead, and "The Twilight Saga's Eclipse" has Muse's "Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)" as the first offering.
"Breaking Dawn" itself will follow newlywed Robert Pattinson's Edward Cullen and Kristen Stewart's Bella Swan as they grow a new family. At the same time, they face a perilous chain of events that pits the Cullens and their allies against the Volturi, the fearsome council of vampire leaders, setting the stage for an all-out battle.
The last chapter in the "Twilight" series, "Breaking Dawn" is split into two parts. While "Breaking Dawn Part I" will hit U.S. theaters on November 18, "The Twilight Saga's Breaking Dawn Part II" is set for November 16, 2012 release.

Michael Jackson's Kids Will Appear at Tribute Concert Despite Protest
Although their uncles are against the idea, Michael Jackson's three kids would take part in a tribute concert in Wales. "Paris, Blanket and Prince have been asked to attend the MJ Tribute in Wales and they have decided to go," a rep of the family confirmed to TMZ.
The rep added, "They are extremely excited and they're hoping they will have the opportunity to contribute in some way by making a speech. Nothing has been set in stone yet for how they can help, but they really hope they can. "
Randy and Jermaine Jackson previously expressed their protest of Michael Forever: The Tribute Concert. "Today's press conference in Los Angeles announced a tribute concert to Michael to be attended and supported by the Jackson family. However, we want to make clear that this does not reflect the position of the entire family," they said in a joint statement.
The brothers felt that the timing is "inappropriate", saying "We find it impossible to support an event that is due to take place during the criminal trial surrounding Michael's death." They are reportedly still against the kids making an appearance.
The tribute concert wouls feature such stars as Kanye West, Christina Aguilera and Jay-Z. Global Live said that there is a plan to broadcast the event at several major U.S. venues.

Britney Spears Sat on Top of Pauly D's Shoulders in Sexy Act
One lucky guido got a personal treat from Britney Spears. "Jersey Shore" star DJ Pauly D who opens for a number of the pop star's concerts got up close to her when she used him as part of her lap dance act.
Pauly D was first handcuffed to the pole on top of a convertible. The "Femme Fatale" singer then seductively teased him with a straight look before putting a pink feathered boa on his shoulder. Britney continued by sitting on top of his shoulders from the back while clutching on the pole.
Taking Pauly D away from the stage on the car, Britney playfully told her audience, "He's never coming back!" Pauly D tweeted on Thursday, August 11 night, "Wow, just got a lap dance on stage from Britney Spears" and linked a photo of the act.
There's a possibility that the act was recorded for Pauly D's reality show which is a spin-off to "Jersey Shore".

Britney Pays Tribute to Michael Jackson and Madonna in 2011 MTV VMAs Promo
Britney Spears is honoring the legends in a new commercial for 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. A white poster bearing words "Billy Jean", "Like a Virgin" and "Hit Me 1 More X" is seen hanging on the wall of a club where she's DJing and partying all night long. "[They're] the people I've grown up listening to and totally inspire [me]," she says.
In addition to paying homage to Michael Jackson and Madonna, she also salutes Janet Jackson. Her song "Rhythm Nation" is one of the backsounds in the promo ad dubbed "A Tribute to Britney Spears". Those classics are mashed up with Britney's popular singles like "Slave 4 U" and "I Wanna Go".
The video opens with her standing in front of the mirror and writing down number "7" on it. "I'm representing how many albums I've done," she gushes. "I'm walking down a hallway and I'm seeing memorabilia of all my performances that I've done in the past. All my dancers are dressed up in my old outfits, which it's really cool."
This year, Britney receives two nods at the VMAs, thanks to her "Till the World Ends" music video. She is vying for Best Pop Video against Adele, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry and Pitbull, and is competing for Best Choreography against Beyonce Knowles, Lady GaGa, LMFAO and Bruno.
2011 MTV VMAs will be held in a live telecast at Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on August 28. Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Adele and Bruno have been confirmed as performers. Jonah Hill, Rick Ross, Selena Gomez, Seth Rogen, Kim Kardashian and Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All are tapped as presenters.
Kelly Clarkson's New Single 'Mr. Know It All' to Arrive August 30
Kelly Clarkson has a new single coming out by the end of this month. Rumor has it, the former winner of "American Idol" has sent a song called "Mr. Know It All" to radios and set it to make its airwave debut on August 30.
According to a review from 104.3MYfm, the song is amazing. "Kelly still has the huge powerful voice, but does some new things with it and incorporates some great drum beats and tempo," it was elaborated further on the radio's official website.
Addressing whether or not the song is among the 50 materials which leaked from Kelly's folder earlier this year, they stated, "I heard the leak a few months ago, and let me tell you this is not it!" They then continued giving further hint on what to expect from the song by writing, "The background has a 'Just the Way You Are' sound and I instantly compared the vocal to Pink, with how raspy Kelly tries to go with it."
Beside focusing on her own album, Kelly has also worked on a side project with her backup singers Jill and Kate. They form a trio under the moniker of Already Famous and have already hit studio together. They said, "We've been writing & singing together 4 over 4 years so we thought why not record it. We love singing harmony!"

Taylor Swift's 'Sparks Fly' Music Video Lights Up the Night
Taylor Swift has premiered a music video filmed to support her latest single "Sparks Fly". The country music cutie gives her devotees a "Speak Now" tour experience in the clip by compiling footage from her ongoing traveling show across the United States.
The thrills are shared in a number of elaborate sets involving floating balconies, glittery costume changes and acrobatic routines by aerialists. Still, all eyes are on Swift who is strutting her stuff, wiping her blonde hair and twirling around the stage in high spirit.
Cameras, cell phones and glow sticks flash among the screaming crowd, but it was the firework set off around the venue that lights up the night. The performances previewed in the clip include "Speak Now", "Back to December" and "Mean".
Taylor Swift will stay on the road until November 22. After performing on August 10 at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, she will resume the tour on August 13 at Scottrade Center in St. Louis. Beside singing her own songs, she also covers other artists' popular tracks like Eminem's "Lose Yourself". Most recently, she did a rendition of Fall Out Boy's "Sugar, We're Goin' Down" in one of the tour stops.
"Sugar, We're Goin' Down" live performance:
Evanescence Say They Have Perfect Song for 'Breaking Dawn Part I'
Having already won Grammys, toured around the globe and sold million copies of their albums, Evanescence are now eying to get hired by Summit Entertainment to write a song for "The Twilight Saga's Breaking Dawn Part I". In fact, they already have one perfect song for the movie.
"I've been screaming for [new song] 'My Heart Is Broken' to land in that, because I think it would fit the story so well. I got sucked into the 'Twilight' vortex by the girls at home, so by default, I've got to watch it," drummer Will Hunt said during an interview with MTV recently. Amy Lee added, "I think that would be awesome."
In the past, Amy actually had tried to write song for the Robert Pattinson-starring film. Recalling how she joined the Twihards, she stated, "I didn't watch the first movie - I was like, 'Yeah, whatever. I got over vampires in high school' - then they were like, 'Maybe you should write a song for the movie,' so I read the book and I wrote some songs."
"It didn't work out because they have all these cool hipster people that are doing the 'Twilight' stuff," Amy revealed how the project ended. Nonetheless, it didn't stop the frontwoman from continuing to read the Stephenie Meyer book series. "I was kind of into it," she reasoned. "So I read the next books."
Evanescence recently released a brand new song called "What You Want" to mark their comeback from hiatus. The "Going Under" hitmakers, who once landed their song "Bring Me to Life" in 2003's "Daredevil, The Movie", have filmed a music video for the single and are expected to premiere it sometime soon.
