Maybelline Moisture Extreme Lipstick Swatch Update + Combo falsies

So much has been going on these past few days...busy volunteering and running around doing errands. :P

Still, I have time to squeeze in an update on the Maybelline Moisture Extreme Lipstick swatches from my previous post! Summertime is basically here and although my lips are even more chapped/dry/parched in the winter, it still persists into the summer. *sigh* So many ladies had mentioned how much they loved the color "NUDE BLUSH" but they were all sold out the last time I hauled. So here is my recent review of the color:

Tried out the Tokidoki Luminosa powder here in Kabuki - LOVE! Very subtle but lasting!

This lipstick, like all the other maybelline moisture extreme lippies, felt like lingerie on the lips, so smooth, silky, and comfortable!

Again, to see all colors & swatches, visit my last review here!

Rating: (5/5)

Still lotsa love for this lippie!

I my falsies

In order to get the look above, I used two pairs of falsies...as I mentioned in another post, I love falsies since it helps create the appearance of larger eyes. Plus my natural lashes are the usual short, stubby, non-existent variety, so falsies give me a little extra 'oomph'. T_T

Combining falsies can really make your eyes "pop!" - I usually only do this for special occasions like a night out since it is a bit dramatic. :)

You can find Ardell's at any drug store and Darkness lashes are sold at Korean markets and online at Daybeauty.com (by the way on special AGAIN - $2.95 for 2 pairs of lashes!!!). The Kma5s are a lot lighter than the other style of Kmas - the band is thinner and more flexible which = optimized comfort!

I love the look of lush lashes! (Older pics, same combo of lashes)

I went to see Wicked to celebrate my 3-year anniversary with my boyfriend. I had to leave straight from the wedding reception, and didn't have time to change. Had I prepared more, I would have joined in on the fun with "Wicked-themed" attire and makeup! I did enjoy seeing all the theater-goers in their green dresses and pointy hats though. ;)

And a post wouldn't be a post without some food pics!!! For my Mom's b-day we had some of the tastiest peking duck + pineapple sweet & sour chicken (HK style!) that I've ever eaten!

SALE ALERT - Kma Darkness lashes on sale again on Daybeauty.com!

Just a quickie update!

My FAVORITE brand of Korean lashes, DARKNESS, is on sale yet again on Daybeauty.com! Regular price is $4.95 but they are now on sale for $2.95 a piece! Again, the Kma series includes 2 sets of lashes and 2 types of glue so it's quite a bargain! :)

I think I have some new favorites - the Darkness KMA5's they are criss-cross style and flare out at the ends...very pretty and more natural than the KMA8s and KMA9s! (which I also love!)

I will be reviewing them in my upcoming post - here's a sneak peak of them + the Ardell 109's! (which can be purchased at most drugstores in the US).

I am also wearing MISSHA Perfect Cover BB cream in No. 23. Also a review in the next post :D (My skin isn't perfect by a long shot, but I am trying out a host of BB creams to find something that works!)

Review: Kma8 lashes & tutorial + More excitement + gourmet burgers

**Kind of long post -- lots of pics!**

Starting off with exciting news: ♥Welcome my 2 new princesses - Rena & gliteryeyesxx -- who by the way, is a sexy pharmacist in the making! Loves it. Best. career. ever. :D

Darkness Kma8

Darkness lashes are seriously AWESOME -- if you like dramatic lashes, they are exactly that. No au naturale look here. You can find them if you have Korean stores around, but if not YAY for internet -- I buy mine from Daybeauty.com -- they sell Korean cosmetics and skincare and have a *HUGE* collection of false eyelashes to choose from. Also, their customer service is top notch -- once they mailed me the wrong pair of lashes, and sent me the correct one free of charge! (Got to keep the other pair!!!)

I have *just recently* gotten into wearing falsies again...it used to be such a hassle with the glue all up in my eye sockets and I was worried all the rubbing would = wrinkles. However, you have to do it the right way! It all comes down to the technique...everyone has their own way, but I will share mine with you because I the results.

Tip: Always put on eyeliner FIRST...it'll help blend the line of your real lashes with your fake lashes -- it is virtually impossible to do this easily once you have applied the falsies!

First you have to trim them down pretty substantially otherwise they don't blend well or look even somewhat believable.

I can't read Korean so my friend's Mom translated for me -- the yellow-capped tube is the SUPER STRONG glue and the white-capped tube is a weaker glue that does nada for me. If you want a good all-day hold, use the yellow-capped tube! Here is what my brand new spare set looks like -- goop free :D

Since the lashes are pretty stiff, bend them back and forth a few times so they'll sit more comfortably on your lids. Then spread a thin layer of glue on the back of the lashes. Let the glue sit for at least 20 seconds so it can get slightly tacky.

Then point falsies straight out at 90 degree angle from your open eye, slightly turning upwards to get extra 'lift'. Close your eyes slightly and gently press the lashes onto your eyelid, as close as you can get to your real lashes without actually touching your real lashes. Hold for a few seconds, then release!

Lash application

Adjust lashes accordingly. Add glue at corners if necessary (I had to add my glue to inner corners) Excuse crazy eyebrows.

Before -- new haircut, no makeup, bald eyes :(

After: Voila! From zero lashes to va-va-voom flirt-with-me lashes!

Final look

So overall, these lashes might take some getting used to -- they are a bit heavier than a lot of standard lashes and they definitely aren't natural. I like the slightly spiky look since they come out nicely in pics :) They are about $5 for two pairs, are FDA approved (haha) and you can reuse them without having them lose their shape! However, you really have to use the special glue they come with -- my other lash glue (DUO) doesn't work at all. The band is a bit thicker and must be flexed a few times to sit on the eye comfortably. Definitely worth the money -- if you take care of them, they last quite awhile.

Also, just wanted to share my look of the day -- comfy cable-knit Abercrombie sweater from the local outlet ONLY $12!!! Also, skinny jeans by American Rag from Macy's.

My new Miss Sixty peacoat -- LOVE it. Do not underestimate the power of a nice coat -- makes you look put together somewhat, even if you aren't always dressed to the 9s.

Finally, I went to Red Robin for lunch today -- MAN, are their gourmet burgers tasty! I'll have to Yelp them later. I am a huge cheese fan, so I tried the delicious Bleu Ribbon Burger...mmmm onion straws!
