The comedy series marks the actress' return to television, two years after her old show "Samantha Who?" was canceled.The pilot also stars "Arrested Development"'s Will Arnett as Applegate's husband and "Bridesmaids" actress Maya Rudolph as her boss and best friend.In the new single-camera show, Applegate, 39, portrays an acerbic working mother, while Arnett plays her overwhelmed, but supportive stay-at-home husband.
The project was spearheaded by "Saturday Night Live" creator Lorne Michaels and writer Emily Spivey. Applegate is also one of the producers, her spokesperson had told OnTheRedCarpet.com.In real life, Christina gave birth to her first daughter, Sadie, with musician Martyn LeNoble in January, Arnett and his wife, Amy Poehler welcomed their second child in August 2010, and Rudolph welcomed her third child in July. Applegate has gained her own experience balancing parenthood and a career, which made the new mom miss her 7-month-old daughter Sadie while she is on-set."I spent the past six months 24/7 with my child, without a nanny. We just got a nanny for this show,"Applegate told USA Today recently. "It's been us in our little bubble. It's hard to say goodbye to her in the morning. I think about her all day long. “I’m completely relaxed. I honestly am really excited and really grateful to put ‘Emmy-nominated’ in my bio. If I can win someday, that would be great, but I don’t think it will be this time out. I love this character and I don't know if I'll ever get a better character. Maybe I'll never get a better chance but we'll see,” she told Parade.
“I can't win my category. [My character Avery Jessup] has great lines and she truly is an amazing character so I'm very grateful, but I don't think I can win.” Elizabeth appears in new movie Our Idiot Brother, where Paul Rudd plays a man who wreaks havoc on his sisters’ lives. She dyed her blonde locks brown for the part, something that made a big difference to her life. “Blondes [have more fun]. No one notices me if I’m a brunette, but they do take you more seriously and let you play doctors and lawyers,” she laughed. “It's totally scientific that the eye is drawn to light so when I walk around as a blonde, I just get noticed more than I do as a brunette. I find it really fascinating.”
Britney Spears has taught the world a thing or two about pop music over the span of her career, but what would the 29-year-old be doing if "...Baby One More Time" had never become a massive hit. "Raising my family. Being a mom," Brit told PopJustice.com, when asked about possible alternatives to being a pop star.
"[My life,] would probably pretty much be the same because I'm very strong in the way I raise my kids and stuff, so it would probably be pretty much the same, but career-wise I'd probably be a teacher. I love kids and even in what I do now one of my favorite parts of my day is getting to meet my fans before the show. Especially the little ones. They are always so cute," she continued.
The mother of two said while touring she sticks to a strict routine.
"On tour, I usually get up in the morning and I work out, and I spend time with my kids, and then it'll be time to go to the venue, and I have catering, eat dinner then get ready for the show," she explained.
And despite singing about being at the club, Brit said she won't usually be found in them - expect the one in her own house. "I never go to the club, but I think it's fun to sing about it. And I have my own mini club at my house," she revealed. "And I play a lot of music there... it has a glitterball and we have catering and lights. It's the whole setup."

Teen diva Selena Gomez is going to work the “black carpet” at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards from a different angle: as a celebrity host.
MTV issued a press release Friday announcing that Gomez will “be reporting breaking news and interviewing her peers alongside MTV News correspondents Sway, Jim Cantiello and James Montgomery.” (In case you’re wondering, there is always a ton of breaking news on the black carpet at the VMAs.)
Selena Gomez is quite excited.
“After all of my years watching the VMA’s, the pre-show has always been one of my favorite parts,” she says in the press release.
Hey, who knows? Maybe she’ll be good at this and can eventually work her way up to asking questions on the Golden Globe red carpet for E!

Stoker, a Park Chan-Wook directed film slated for release sometime in 2012, tells the story of an eccentric teen, India, whose enigmatic and estranged uncle returns to the family following the death of the girl’s father.
When people mysteriously start to go missing in her hometown at the same time, India begins to believe that her uncle may be the cause.
According to Indiewire, Kidman is set to play the role of the little girl’s mother and will be joined by a heavy hitting array of talent including Matthew Goode, Jacki Weaver, Lucas Till, and Mia Wasikowska.
While very few details are known about the film, we can expect that Chan-Wook – whose other films such as Oldboy and Thirst are famous for their immaculate framing, brutal subject matter, and epic twists – has more than a few surprises up his sleeve.
Anne Hathaway was wracked with nerves before shooting started on her new romantic movie One Day, because she had to perfect a northern English accent.
The Devil Wears Prada star fell in love with the role of Yorkshire-born Emma in the film, which is an adaptation of David Nicholls' 2009 novel.
Hathaway convinced director Lone Scherfig she was perfect for the part - but the American actress admits she initially doubted her ability to tackle the regional dialect.
She tells Britain's Marie Claire magazine, "I've never been so nervous about playing anyone as I was to play Emma.
"There were many reasons to say no to this part. One, because I didn't think I could pull it off. Two, I was very nervous about the Yorkshire accent."
The Modern Family bombshell,Sofia Vergara now 39, had her handsome son Manolo when she was just 19 — and the Colombian actress tells Redbook mag that the teenaged pregnancy had its benefits. "When I had Manolo, I was 19, and I had the energy for everything," she says. Vergara married Manolo's dad, her childhood sweetheart Joe Gonzalez, when she was just 18. The couple divorced two years later.
But the Emmy-nominated star, who is currently dating Florida politician Nick Loeb, can't imagine getting pregnant again. "My boyfriend now wants to have kids, and I don't even want to think about it," she admits. "I would have to get into that mind-set again, the waking up early.

"Cowboys &Aliens" star Olivia Wilde says it was "kind of strange" being half-naked in front of a bunch of people. To that we say - yeah.
Wilde tells MTV, "I was half-naked in front of a bunch of people, including the crew, a bunch of Apache warriors, a bunch of cowboys, and Daniel Craig, who I had to stand in front of basically naked. He had to take a moment to sort of look me up and down before covering me in a blanket. And I was like, this is crazy."
She also talks about how the movie tried to be authentically dirty. "We were literally dirty because we were riding all day long out in the desert, and you get very dirty. But the dirtier everybody looked, the hotter they looked. It was a really good look, I think. The people in the Old West were very dirty. The thing that's unrealistic about our movie is all our teeth: We have good teeth; they didn't have good teeth."
