Digital Rental Deal: The King’s Speech

The digital rental deal of the day over at Amazon today is the Oscar-winning film The King's Speech, which is available for rental for only $.99.

This deal is valid only for today, Monday, August 29, 2011, until midnight PST. Once you activate the rental through Amazon's Instant Demand service, you'll have access to the movie for 24 hours. If you're interested in purchasing the digital version, the cost is $12.99.

Also, if you'd like to own a physical copy of the movie, the Blu-ray is available for $19.99 while the DVD is $12.39. 2011 MTV Video Music Awards: Watch Queen’s Brian May Perform With Lady Gaga

The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards was broadcast live tonight, with Lady Gaga opening the show with a live performance of her song "You and I," which had the singer dressed in her male 1950s greaser alter ego doing a lengthy opening monologue before breaking into the song.

While Lady Gaga's music isn't exactly my thing, I can't deny she's an excellent performer, always keeping it interesting. As I watched her do her song in her "Jo Calderone" persona, I was ultra-psyched when midway through the act she introduced Queen's Brian May to the stage for a lead guitar solo.

Spider-Man Hurricane Irene

Here on the east coast we have been watching the Hurricane Irene news coverage non-stop, so we've seen a lot of interesting stories pop up, but none as good as this one about Spider-Man.

There was a Spidey sighting yesterday down in Virginia Beach, where the webslinger took a break from fighting crime to brave the waves on the beach. Yes, everyone, Spider-Man was surfing during Hurricane Irene.
