Katy Perry :: New home

All sorts of rumours sprang to life after Katy perry's first home together hit the market recently. The folks who said their marriage would never last felt smugly vindicated by the listing.

There was, however, no impending media-circus divorce. The couple were just upgrading from their cramped four-bedroom mansion to a roomier seven-bed pad.

The Los Feliz home they bought before they were married is currently listed at $3,203,680.

They paid $US3.25 million for that house in 2009, so shouldn't be too out of pocket after their change of heart. The LA Times said that the couple only lived there sporadically for two years.

Realestalker was prompted to pondered the mysteries of why "rich and famous folks can't seem to sit still in a house long enough for even a pot of water to boil".

The couple's new mansion was originally listed for more than $7,500,000; since they paid only $6,133,700, they got a discount the size of a rather nice home here in Australia.

The new Perry/Brand home is at 8159 Hollywood Blvd, West Hollywood, California.

Don't expect to do much celebrity spotting from the street though. Apparently one of the motivating factors of the search for new digs was the lack of privacy at their previous home. The couple added trees to screen out unwanted stares, but they must not have done the trick.

Their new Hollywood Hills mansion is far more secluded.

The gated Mediterranean-style home looks quite unassuming from the grand "motor court". It has a rather dull facade and predictable terracotta roof tiles.

Step inside the three-story home, though, and that first impression will become little more than a distant memory.

The modest front door opens into a double-height "baronial" stone foyer, with marble floors and a towering stained-glass window.

A sweeping staircase curves around what look the like the stone walls of an English castle, replete with tapestries.

The whole house is a rather unsettling Mediterranean-medaieval melange. No doubt the Brands will stamp their own unique style on the house.

The 820 square metre mansion has seven bedrooms, including a four-room master suite and nine bathrooms.

The enormous living room evokes a mediaeval great hall, complete with a double-height, timber-beamed (although heavily decorated) ceiling, a massive fireplace, more tapestries and a minstrels' gallery.

It is very difficult to picture the couple in these surroundings without hilarious visions of mad, bad Brand, darkly holding court in the great hall, with a bejewelled Perry gleefully swinging from a chandelier above.

A more intimate lounge room has an elegantly curved and incredibly ornate, carved stone fireplace. There is also a beautifully decorated ceiling, probably of pressed metal.

In all, there are five fireplaces that grace the den, family room, library, living room and even one of the bathrooms.

The large dining room has an even more intricately decorated ceiling than the lounge and looks to have room to comfortably accommodate at least 10 diners. Won't they will be nights to remember!

Although there don't seem to be any pictures of it, the house apparently comes with its own "pub". A perfectly reasonable (and homely) touch for someone with a reputation such as Brand's, even if he has closed that chapter of his life.

No doubt the heavy, dark furniture and relentlessly beige walls and floors will be banished post-haste once the couple have the house keys.

According to The LA Times, they will be bringing some unique flourishes with them from their last home, including Perry's pink retro refrigerator and the couple's seven-and-a-half-metre-tall "love teepee" for the garden.

The view from their "love teepee" will include a secluded rustic grotto, draped with greenery and topped with what looks like a lovely arched bridge in timber.

Beside the grotto lies a giant pool surrounded by a huge terrace, perfect for entertaining. There is also the obligatory guest house.

Katy Perry :: World tour 2011

Katy Perry has announced the final five dates for California Dreams 2011 World Tour. The new North American dates will all take place in November.
These new dates include a stop at New York City's legendary Madison Square Garden on November 16 and wrap with a show at Staples Center in Los Angeles on November 22.

The North American leg of the tour, which kicks off tonight in Atlanta, features a rotating group of exciting openers, including Robyn, Janelle Monae, Oh Land, Jessie J and Marina & The Diamonds. DJ Skeet Skeet performs on all dates.

In other news, "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)," the fifth single off Katy's Grammy-nominated album Teenage Dream, goes to Pop and Rhythm radio today. "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" follows Katy's four No. 1 singles, "California Gurls" featuring Snoop Dogg, "Teenage Dream," "Firework," and E.T." featuring Kanye West. Last month, Katy set a historic radio play record for the highest number of plays in a single week in the history of the Nielsen BDS mainstream Top 40 survey with "E.T.", surpassing her own record set with "California Gurls." With the success of "E.T.", Katy also became the first female artist to score four No. 1 singles from the same album on Billboard's Hot 100. Teenage Dream stands as only the ninth album to log at least four No. 1's in the over 50-year history of the chart and Katy has remained in the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for over a full year straight.

Last month, Katy performed "E.T." with Kanye West on American Idol and appeared on the June cover of Vanity Fair, shot by Annie Leibovitz. Katy spent the spring performing sold-out shows across Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. Throughout the California Dreams Tour, she has been interacting with fans through social media networks. Concertgoers have been able to check in to venues using Facebook Places and Deals to receive special treats, as well as submit their Tweets via the "Tweet-to-Screen," powered by social curation start-up Mass Relevance — giant on-stage screens that welcome fans to each show and display live fan photos and tweets (via dedicated show hashtags), giving everyone in the audience the chance to share their thoughts, excitement, and anticipation before Katy hits the stage. A mini-version of the "Tweet-to-Screen" also appears on Katy's tour diary (http://www.katyperry.com/tour-diary) to allow any fan anywhere in the world to participate in the excitement.

In addition, Katy has partnered with Tickets-for-Charity to offer special access to some of the best seats in the house on the California Dreams Tour. A portion of the proceeds from each purchase benefit three charities that Katy has selected: Generosity Water, The Humane Society of the United States, and the Children's Health Fund. To date, her fans have raised over $150,000 in charitable donations. A limited number of premium seats benefiting these great causes are available now for select tour dates on www.ticketsforcharity.com.

Katy Perry : thinks to do these type of things, especially for the fans

Beach-party-themed industry listening events. On Monday night, Kate Perry brought her West Coast vibe to the East Coast, filling the Espace venue with beach balls, sand and lots of funky pop tunes.

On the eve of her "California Gurls" video premiere, Perry played a number of other tracks off the album that mirrored that song's bouncy, summertime pop feel. The title track, the album's reported second single, picks up right where "California Gurls" leaves off. With a strong beat to back her up, Perry sings about a boy who makes her feel like a teenager again.

The next track, which she told the crowd was her "f---ing opus," is a shimmering tune that plays up Perry's vocals and gives a slightly orchestral feel during the song's chorus. Perry next played her party anthem "Last Friday Night," which she explained had a purpose for being on the album: "There's a lot of substance ... but also some no brainers."

She likened the song to "I Gotta Feeling" by the Black Eyes Peas. The midtempo party track recalls all the fun had in past nights. Perry displays some angst on the rock-tinged breakup anthem "Circle the Drain." On it, Perry sings about leaving behind a lover or friend with a substance problem.

Perry slowed things down with the ballad, "Pearl," about a girl who was once a lighthearted woman until someone came along and changed her. She eventually switches the script, and it becomes an empowering song about change.

But the general vibe of the album is levity and partying, emphasized by dance track "The One That Got Away" and the cheerleader-ish, double-entendre-filled "Peacock." The final song previewed is the dreamy, midtempo ode to love, "Not Like the Movies."

Later on, MTV News caught up with Perry, who talked about her strategy of previewing these songs for people. "It's really exciting to do these little beach party, Katy Perry, Teenage Dream listening parties. It's funner — I love that word that doesn't exist — it's funner to do it in this environment, where it's just free and fun and there's a couple of drinks, people are eating, people are socializing, seeing people they haven't seen in a while.

"It looks like it's going to be a sleepless year," Perry continued. "It's gonna be really fun. I think we're going to do these type of things, especially for the fans. We're just starting to roll the record out, and it's all beginning again. Although I don't feel like I'm back. I feel like it's a continuum."
