A Parade, a Party and a TV Interview in Music City

The Country Music Festival is turning 40 this year - aka non-stop paarrrrrrty!

So much for a relaxing vacay!!

My first day in Nashville has been a lot of fun although a BIG learning curve.

  1. My first words when I meet someone new is no longer 'Hi I'm Justine' but 'Yes I am from London and your accent is so cute too.' That is my go to phrase of the trip so far.

  2. Office buildings, shopping malls and bus depots in Nashville are all housed in identical box like structures downtown. Revealing what's inside said box structure before you've crossed the threshold and embarrassed the heck out of yourself would spoil the fun of course.

  3. Bumping into a full on cowboy in the supermarket is one of those heart fluttering PHOAR!! moments - not sure I'll ever get used to that OR that I ever want to ;-))

  4. It is freaking hot - 101 degrees this evening - but fortunately I'm loving the heat. So far. However this is only true as long as I have a bottle of ice cold water in one paw and a fan in the other. Water is by far the most valuable commodity in this town this week - water sellers are making more money than the ticket hawkers. ;-))

Anyways clearly news had spread that I was in town as on my arrival in downtown Nashville I was greeted by a parade. ;-)) Note to self - people hurl a lot of stuff at parade spectators - but I am now the proud owner of a frog bead necklace (which I actually really like in a kooky way), two softballs and a gecko fan - the perfect accessory (see above!).

Some choice parade highlights only (internet is tres slow here)

Gotta love a marching band

This guy totally couldn't see where to drive and a furry suit in 100 degree heat. NOT COOL!

Pink ride - sweet. This is how all american passengers ride in their cars

Music's in DEFINITELY in the air!!

These are my kind of country!

Last night, a fellow guest - whom some of you already know as my '70 year Irish escort' - he is so sweet and has awesome press credentials ;-)) invited me to accompany him to the Country Music Television Awards. A hot date!! But when in Nashville one must never say no to music. To be honest it was more of a pop circus than country music show though - the Biebster caused a full scale meltdown of every female in a 200 meter radius as only he does and Ludacris tried to rap his way into Aldean's country music hit or in that case miss but it was uber cool just to be there, to be part of the show and meet some guys from Houston who assured me Houston was no more hot and humid than Nashville this week and I wouldn't die when I go to their neck of the woods in a few weeks. (PHEW)

A great view of the action

A pic for my sweet Texan friend who LOVES all things neon and chevron!

Well now time to go prepare for my first EVER TV interview for channel 5 news: 'Yes I am from London'. xx
